About

Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF) presents works by international artists in a local context and seeks to be an open, experimental and including meeting place for artists, audience and locals.

The festival has no set venue in Lofoten, but is re-created every time by exploring and integrating its surroundings in Lofoten. Exhibitions and art works has been displayed in places such as a mountain top, a park, a garage, a library, a fish rack and a private home. Expanding, exploring and gaining new insight through art is the festivals motive force.

Like the tide, LIAF 2019 ebbed and flowed through the year in four small communities across the entire archipelago. In Digermulen, Skrova, Valberg and Ramberg, artist residencies fostered conversations, exploration, introspection and collaboration in the intertidal zone.
The exhibition and public programme took place in Svolvær from August 30 to September 29 2019.

The next edition of LIAF will take place in 2022.
