Svolvær Film Theatre

Storgata 29, Svolvær

About the venue

Svolvær film theatre will be the main location of LIAF 2019’s Kelp Congress public programme. The functionalist building was designed by architect Harald Sund and was finished in 1938. Much of the original interior is well preserved. For years the cinema was one of Svolvær’s most important gathering spots with its 350 seats and two or three film showings daily. It saw especially large numbers of visitors during the winter fishing seasons in the 1950s and 60s. Today, the theatre shares its main entrance with the city hall.
